Carol Ann Townend was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Learning to read at an early age, she developed a passion for writing and music while in high school. She has struggled most of her adult life with depression and anxiety from childhood trauma, but her love of music and literature has given her solace during her darkest times. She now uses her twin loves as a source of inspiration for her writing, creating stories highlighting the theme, broken does not mean unworthy.

She is a Time to Change Champion in the mental health field and helps fight the stigma surrounding mental health to change the way it is viewed in society. She presently lives in Bournemouth, Dorset.
