Indies United Publishing House and the And I Thought Ladies invite you to experience a unique blend of creativity, inspiration, and celebration at the 2025 Indies Author Retreat & 9th Annual Women in Literature Awards. Mark your calendars for June 6th – 8th, 2025, in the charming town of Quincy, Illinois, where authors, readers, and literary enthusiasts come together for an unforgettable weekend.



Weekend Highlights

Kick off the weekend with a Meet & Greet Mixer and Casual Dinner on Friday night. Saturday will feature a variety of activities, including Author Workshops, a Public Book Reading, and a Gala Event to honor the awardees of the Small Bites Short Story Contest and Inspirational Women Awards.


Friends and family are welcome to join all activities throughout the weekend.



The Corinthian Event Center

The Corinthian Event Center, with its historic charm and modern amenities, provides the perfect setting for this literary retreat. It features granite walls, marble floors, rich mahogany walls, and grand pillars, all designed in the Ancient Greek Corinthian style, Located in downtown Quincy, it's just steps away from the vibrant Farmers Market and other local attractions.



Author Retreat & Awards Gala

Indies United Publishing House will honor the winners of the second annual Small Bites Short Story Contest during the Gala. Additionally, the Inspirational Women Awards for Media, Literature, and Journalism will recognize women who have motivated others in their industry and helped those affected by domestic abuse. The event aims to inspire newcomers to literature, media, and journalism.



Explore Quincy, IL

Quincy, known as the “Gem City” of Illinois, offers a blend of historical charm, cultural diversity, and modern amenities. With a rich history that includes the Lincoln-Douglas debates and a role in the Underground Railroad, Quincy is home to several historic landmarks and districts. Visitors can enjoy festivals, a vibrant music and theater scene throughout the year, and various dining and entertainment options.

Quincy is accessible by car, train, or plane. The Quincy Regional Airport offers daily round-trip flights to Chicago O'Hare International Airport and St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Amtrak also provides daily service from Chicago.
