In Memoriam

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, we lost an author, Richard [Dick] Jacobs at the age of 92. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side. He was a well-known and successful attorney in St. Petersburg. He and his wife, Joan, were world travelers, and he wrote about their adventures in his book “Wonderlust.” More recently, Dick authored the nonfiction book “Democracy of Dollars.” He was kind and funny and wise and he will be greatly missed.

A lawyer by training, a photographer by passion, he was fortunate to have trekked and photo'd on the seven continents — and those experiences shaped his life and understanding the nature of our responsibilities for the care of each other and our earth, the only home we will ever have. Before his passing, he and his wife Joan created an environmental law charity to help combat climate change. In memory of this amazing person, if you would like to donate you can do so one of three ways, by purchasing either of the books shown below [all royalties go to supporting the Dick and Joan Jacobs Public Interest Law Clinic for Democracy and the Environment] or you can donate directly by clicking on the middle image.

A society grows great when old men plant trees

whose shade they know they shall never sit in.
